2019 TCSS Vendor Information

 

What's in a word? 

First of all- What IS a vendor? There seems to be a bit of confusion about this term, so we decided to list the definition: A vendor is a person or entity that sells goods or services. All of our vendors are required to sell handmade goods, therefore the vendor will most often also be a maker! On this website you may see 'maker' and 'vendor' used interchangeably.

It's all in the details... 

The Traverse City Shop & Sip prides our event on the ability to secure vendors who provide exclusively handmade craft. The Traverse City Shop & Sip is a juried show, all applications are reviewed and juried prior to vendor acceptance. Applicants are selected based on several factors: We seek high-quality, original, handmade work that will be attractive to our demographic of shoppers. We aim to provide a wide variety of products and price points to ensure that the TCSS has something for everyone! 

Applications are accepted from March 15 through June 30, 2019 at midnight. If you've applied before and didn't get in, we invite you to apply again this year. All applicants should understand that we cannot accept every vendor that applies, or everyone who has sold at the TCSS in the past. We get over 300 applications annually, and know our shoppers appreciate fresh, innovative makers as well as perennial favorites who consistently bring new wares to our event every year. 

If you are selected to be a vendor you will be contacted on or before July 15, 2019. At that time all vendor fees will be due by July 25, 2019 at midnight to secure your booth space. If you choose not to pay your vendor fee by July 25, your booth space will be considered forfeited and offered to the next vendor on the waiting list, so please be prompt with your payment. Directions for payment will be included in your acceptance email. All fees are non-refundable. 

Application Information

 Booth Spaces. The 2019 Traverse City Shop & Sip will be held in the freshly renovated Governors’ Hall at the Grand Traverse Resort. All booth spaces will be 10’x10’. Double, side-by-side booth spaces are also available. You have three options for your booth spaces, to be chosen on your application:

  • A single 10’x10’ booth space - $125

  • A double booth space (side by side in the middle of an aisle) - $250

  • An endcap double booth space - $275 (space is limited)

Electricity is available for $30 per vendor. Charging for electricity is not our choice, but that of the venue. The lighting is ample, but we understand your desire to accent your products with custom lighting. We encourage our vendors to consider battery operated or solar lighting for their booth space. All booth spaces requiring electricity will be on a wall.

All vendors selected for the 2019 TCSS are responsible for their own tables and all display needs. 

Our online application is available by clicking here. Please be thorough and know that we do not chase applicants down for incomplete submissions. 

The following three elements are required by June 30, 2019 for your application to be reviewed:

  • Completed online application. No printed and mailed, texted, or verbal applications will be accepted. Remember to include exactly what you intend to sell at the TCSS in your application. No other items may be added to your display on the day of the event.

  • Four (and ONLY four!) SINGLE j.peg photos of your craft must be emailed to tcshopandsip@charter.net with your business name in the subject line, no later than June 30, 2019. We require one photo of your booth set up from a previous event, and three photos of your craft. Select your photos carefully, and make sure it represents exactly what you will be selling. 

  • $12 non-refundable application fee. This fee is payable exclusively through PayPal on our website, and is submitted with the completed application no later than June 30, 2019.

Tips

Applicants should have an active online presence that represents their current craft. We love websites and social media, and use it to advertise our vendors at the TCSS! We also expect your participation as a vendor in sharing our event and inviting friends through social media.

Do you make a few or several different items? Please pick ONE GENRE and go with it. For instance: Do you make bath and body products? Great- plan to bring it all! Do you make bath and body products, wood signs, jewelry, and a little granola too? Choose a theme and roll with it! We find that a focused vendor space is more successful at the TCSS than one of a maker who brings a little of everything they make. Plus we only choose a few makers with similar craft, so everyone has a profitable event! Have a question about your craft fitting our criteria? Email us anytime!

All displays and materials must be free standing and contained to your allotted space and taken home with you after the event. Please do not ask to hang things on the walls or if we can keep your table until the next day. Consider this when submitting your application.
